EP-HGJ-B Wide-Mouth Jar Preform Heater
Preform heater for semi-automatic blow molding lines producing wide-mouth jar containers — neck diameter up to 130/65mm, mold height 160mm, 500–1,200 bph. A required component in every HGS semi-automatic line: HGS machines do not heat preforms internally; a separate HGJ heater must be paired with the blow molding machine.
HGJ-B vs HGJ-CL — Select by Neck Diameter
Both HGJ heaters serve semi-automatic blow molding lines. The only selection criterion is your bottle’s neck diameter. Selecting the wrong heater means the preform holder cannot accommodate your preform neck.

What a Preform Heater Does — and Why It Is Required
In a two-step (RSBM) blow molding process — semi-automatic or fully automatic — PET preforms must be heated to the correct temperature before they can be stretched and blown into bottles. In fully automatic machines, the heating zone is integrated inside the machine. In HGS semi-automatic machines, the preform heating is handled by a separate, standalone heater unit — the HGJ series.
The HGJ-B heater holds preforms in a rotating carousel, exposing them to infrared heating lamps as they travel through the heating zone. When preforms reach the correct temperature — typically 95–115°C at the bottle body, with the neck kept cool — the operator removes them and loads them into the HGS blow station for stretching and blowing. The heater must run continuously and have sufficient output capacity to keep pace with the blow machine’s production rate.
The HGJ-B is selected for wide-mouth jar applications where the preform neck diameter exceeds the HGJ-CL’s 68mm maximum. For standard narrow-neck bottles, the EP-HGJ-CL is the appropriate heater. Browse all semi-automatic machines and heaters.

Heater Selection and Pairing Guidance
Select by Neck Diameter First
The only selection criterion between the HGJ-B and HGJ-CL is neck diameter. If your bottle’s neck diameter exceeds 68mm, the HGJ-B is required — the HGJ-CL’s preform holders cannot accommodate larger neck diameters. Wide-mouth jars, large-format cosmetic dispensers, and any container with a neck diameter above 68mm all require the HGJ-B. Standard narrow-neck bottles with neck diameter at or below 68mm use the HGJ-CL.
Heater Output Must Match or Exceed Blow Machine Output
The HGJ-B produces 500–1,200 heated preforms per hour. The HGS blow machine this heater is paired with must have an output rate at or below the heater’s rated capacity — otherwise the heater becomes the production bottleneck. For HGS machines with output rates above 1,200 bph at your specific bottle size, the HGJ-B may be insufficient and the higher-capacity HGJ-CL or a different configuration should be evaluated.
Three-Phase Power Required
The HGJ-B heater requires three-phase, four-wire power supply — different from the HGS blow machines which operate on single-phase 220V. If your facility has single-phase supply only, you will need to install a three-phase connection or a phase converter for the heater. Confirm your facility’s electrical supply before ordering the heater and the blow machine together.
Preform Wall Thickness Compatibility
The HGJ-B handles preforms with wall thickness of 2.5–4.2mm. Wide-mouth jar preforms are typically at the upper end of this range due to the larger volume and wider neck format. Confirm your preform specification — particularly wall thickness and overall preform weight — falls within the HGJ-B’s rated range before finalising the heater selection.
