Why a Solution-First Approach

Match the Right Machine to Your Bottle — Before You Buy

Selecting the wrong blow molding technology — or the wrong model within the right technology family — is the most expensive mistake a packaging procurement team can make. A machine that is under-specified cannot meet your output targets. A machine that is over-specified ties up capital in capability you will never use. And a machine that is technically mismatched to your resin, bottle geometry, or neck finish specification creates quality problems that compound with every production run.

Ever Power manufactures both injection blow molding (IBM) and one-step injection stretch blow molding (ISBM) machines in our own 20,000 m² factory. Our engineering team's understanding of both processes means we will always recommend the technology that actually fits your application — including recommending the alternative if your initial specification points to the wrong process. Explore our complete machine catalogue or submit your bottle specification to our team for a free, no-obligation assessment.

How It Works

The Two Production Processes — In Plain Engineering Terms

The right process choice is the foundation of every successful packaging machine investment. The four sections below explain both processes and provide the technical comparison and selection criteria needed for procurement and engineering team decision-making.

01
One-Step Process

One-Step ISBM Process

The one-step ISBM process consolidates three historically separate operations — injection molding, thermal conditioning, and stretch blow molding — into a single continuous automated cycle without any secondary reheating step. This eliminates up to 40% of energy consumption versus two-step RSBM and provides superior biaxial molecular orientation for barrier and strength properties.

Click each stage to expand the technical detail.

1
Injection Station — Preform Formation
Molten PET resin is injected around the core pin to form the preform. The bottle neck — thread form, finish height, and bore diameter — is dimensioned to closure-compatibility tolerance at this station. Neck-diameter variation is typically held within ±0.05–0.10 mm. No subsequent trimming or machining is required at any stage.
2
Conditioning Station — Heat Retention
The preform retains its injection heat and indexes to the conditioning station where the temperature field across the entire preform wall is equalised. The gate tail is trimmed here. No secondary reheat oven is required — this is the source of the 40% energy saving versus two-step systems.
3
Stretch Blow Station — Biaxial Orientation
The stretch rod extends the preform axially while high-pressure air at 2.0–3.5 MPa expands it radially — producing simultaneous biaxial molecular orientation. This is what gives ISBM-produced PET containers their superior compression resistance, gas barrier and optical clarity versus unstretched injection moulded containers of identical wall thickness.
4
Take-Out Station — Finished Bottle
Finished bottles are automatically ejected and conveyed onto the discharge belt. No manual handling occurs at any point. Zero waste is generated — no flash, no trim scrap, no edge material at any station.
Best Fit For
PET · PETG · PC · Tritan containers — water bottles, beverage, pharmaceutical PET, food-grade jars, cosmetic flacons, large 5–20 L barrels.
02
European Process

European IBM Process

Injection blow molding is a closed-loop 3-station rotary process without a stretch step. HDPE, PP or PS resin is injection-molded around a core pin at Station 1, forming the preform and the finished bottle neck finish simultaneously to closure-compatibility tolerance. The EP-ZQ European-style IBM machines operate at 20–30% higher clamping force than Chinese-market alternatives at each tonnage tier.

⚙️

3-Station Rotary Architecture

Injection → Blow → Stripping operates simultaneously every cycle. All three stations fire in parallel — maximum output efficiency, minimum idle time. No separate conditioning station needed.

🏆

Zero Flash · Zero Scrap

Because IBM injects directly onto the core rod, there is no parison and no flash generated at any stage. 20–40% material savings versus EBM. No flash trimming equipment, no trim scrap management required.

🧪

HDPE · PP · PS · PCTG · EVA Resins

IBM excels with resins that cannot be stretch-blown effectively. HDPE, LDPE, PP, PS, PCTG and EVA are the standard IBM resin families — covering pharmaceutical, daily-chemical, food and specialty applications.

📐

Up to 30 Cavities at 10 ml

The EP-ZQ135 flagship delivers up to 30 cavities at 10 ml per cycle. Independent hydraulic double system from EP-ZQ80 upward eliminates inter-cavity weight variation. Weight consistency typically within ±1% across all cavities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Solutions & Application Questions

Questions procurement managers and engineers ask most frequently when evaluating blow molding technology options. For questions specific to your bottle design or production target, contact our engineering team directly.

I currently run an extrusion blow moulding line. What does converting to IBM or ISBM give me?+

Switching from EBM to IBM or ISBM typically delivers: elimination of flash scrap (20–40% material saving per cycle), elimination of flash trimming labour and equipment, improvement in bottle weight variation from approx. 3% to approx. 1%, improvement in neck-finish consistency, and reduction in per-bottle energy consumption. For PET containers, ISBM also adds biaxial molecular orientation — delivering superior oxygen barrier, compression strength and optical clarity that EBM cannot achieve in PET at equivalent wall thickness.

I have existing ASB-12M moulds. Can I use them directly on an Ever Power ISBM machine?+

Yes. The EP-HGY150-V4 and EP-HGY150-V4-EV are engineered for direct mechanical compatibility with the Japanese ASB-12M mould format. The injection station platen dimensions, tie-bar spacing and blow station geometry match ASB-12M standard specifications — enabling direct mould installation without adaptation fixtures. We recommend sharing your specific mould drawings with our engineering team before finalising the purchase order.

What is the minimum viable cavity count for a commercially competitive IBM or ISBM line?+

There is no universal minimum — the commercially viable cavity count depends entirely on your target output per hour, your bottle size, and your cycle time. A 1-cavity EP-HGY650-V4 running 18.9 L water barrels at a 50-second cycle time is fully commercially competitive for a water barrel production operation. Contact us to provide your production plan and we will confirm whether the proposed cavity count is correct.

Can the same machine produce different bottle sizes by changing moulds?+

Yes. Both IBM and ISBM machines are designed for mould changeover between different bottle SKUs. The machine parameters are stored as recipes in the PLC and recalled at the start of each production run. Physical mould changeover time is typically 1–4 hours depending on machine size and operator experience. The constraint is that the new mould must be within the machine's physical stroke and platen dimensions.

What does "GMP compliant production" mean in practice for a blow moulding machine?+

GMP compliance for a blow moulding machine specifically means: (1) zero human hand contact with the bottle at any stage; (2) documented and traceable process parameters for every production batch; (3) consistent, verifiable dimensional output across all cavities in the mould; and (4) validated machine qualification documentation (IQ/OQ/PQ basis). The EP-HGY full-servo EV series and EP-ZQ IBM series satisfy all four requirements.

What utility connections does an IBM or ISBM machine require?+

All Ever Power IBM and ISBM machines require: (1) Power supply — 370–400V / 3-phase / 50 Hz, connected load varies by model from approx. 20 KW (EP-ZQ40) to 112.8 KW (EP-HGY150-V4-EV); (2) High-pressure compressed air — 2.0–3.5 MPa for ISBM blow air and 0.5–0.7 MPa for IBM and pneumatic ancillaries; (3) Cooling water — inlet pressure 0.4–0.6 MPa, temperature below 25 degrees C; (4) Floor loading capacity — minimum 2 T/m² beneath the machine footprint, up to 5 T/m² for the EP-HGY650-V4. Detailed utility specification sheets and installation drawings are provided upon order confirmation.
