Technology Overview
Understanding the Three Processes
IBM, ISBM and RSBM are three distinct manufacturing processes. The right choice depends on your material, bottle geometry, production volume, and regulatory requirements.

What Is Injection Blow Molding (IBM)?
Injection blow molding (IBM) combines injection molding and blow molding in a single 3-station rotary process. A parison is injection-molded around a steel core pin at station one; transferred on the core pin to the blow station where compressed air inflates it into the finished bottle at station two; and ejected at station three.
IBM is the dominant process for small HDPE, LDPE, and PP pharmaceutical and personal care containers — oral liquid vials, eye-drop bottles, nasal spray containers — where the absence of a parting-line flash, dimensional consistency, and sterile production are paramount.
- Materials: HDPE, LDPE, PP, PS, PCTG, EVA
- Volume: 1 ml to 2,000 ml
- Key advantage: zero flash, zero scrap, highest dimensional precision for small containers

What Is One-Step Injection Stretch Blow Molding (ISBM)?
One-step ISBM (also called injection stretch blow molding or one-step stretch blow molding) integrates the injection of the preform and its stretch blowing into the finished bottle in a single machine, in a single closed production cycle. The preform is never cooled, stored, or reheated between injection and blowing — eliminating the preform reheating stage that two-step RSBM requires.
This single-cycle process results in approximately 40% lower energy consumption versus two-step production, and eliminates preform inventory management. One-step ISBM is particularly advantageous for small and medium production volumes, multi-SKU operations, and applications requiring complex non-round bottle profiles (oval, flat, asymmetric).
- Materials: PET, PETG, PC, Tritan, PP, PS, ABS, PLA
- Volume: 50 ml to 20 L
- Key advantage: 40% energy saving; no preform storage; zero scrap; excellent for complex profiles

What Is Reheat Stretch Blow Molding (RSBM)?
Reheat stretch blow molding (RSBM) — also called two-step stretch blow molding — separates the process into two independent stages. Stage one: preform injection molding on a separate injection machine or purchased preforms. Stage two: preforms are reheated and biaxially stretch-blown into finished bottles on a standalone RSBM machine.
RSBM is the dominant process for high-volume PET bottle production globally — from 500ml mineral water through 1.5L standard retail bottles to 20L water dispenser barrels. The process delivers biaxial molecular orientation, optical clarity, and PET wall strength at the highest throughput rates available for large preform-based production lines.
- Material: PET (food-grade to pharmaceutical-grade)
- Volume: 500 ml to 20 L
- Key advantage: highest per-line output at scale; widest application coverage; 500ml water to 20L barrel from one machine family

How to Select the Right Process
The correct machine process is determined by four primary factors: target material, bottle geometry, annual production volume, and capital investment budget.
- Choose IBM (EP-ZQ) if: material is HDPE, LDPE, or PP; bottles are 1ml–2,000ml; no parting-line flash is a quality requirement; pharmaceutical or personal care dimensional precision is specified.
- Choose ISBM (EP-HGY) if: material is PET, PETG, Tritan, or PC; production volume is small to medium per SKU; multiple bottle formats on one machine are required; oval or complex non-round profiles are specified; up to 20L is the target volume.
- Choose RSBM (EP-HGA) if: material is PET; production volume is high for a single format (water, beverage, cosmetic, pharmaceutical); maximum throughput per machine is the priority; or the target volume is 500ml to 20L on a two-step production line.

Why Ever Power HG
Three Machine Families — Two Decades of Manufacturing Experience
Since 2003, Ever Power HG has continuously refined three distinct machine families — EP-ZQ IBM, EP-HGY ISBM, and EP-HGA RSBM — to serve the full spectrum of hollow plastic container production from 1 ml pharmaceutical vials to 20 L industrial barrels. Our Hangzhou manufacturing campus houses complete in-house machining, assembly, and quality inspection for all three product lines.
Every machine is manufactured in our own facility using imported precision components — NSK bearings, Parker seals, Yaskawa servo drives, Airtac pneumatics — and undergoes a full production trial before shipment. We have supplied machines to customers in more than 40 countries and provide commissioning support, spare parts supply, and engineering consultation across the full product range.
